WILLIAM ‘BILL’ GARRETT

CLINTWOOD — William Arthur “Bill” Garrett age 65, of Big Ridge Road, Clintwood passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at his home.
Bill Garrett was born on June 24, 1956 to his parents Macarthur and Faye Chandler Garrett. He was the third of five children. After graduating from Haysi High School, he went to work for several small jobs before taking a job with Clinchfield Coal Company on a strip job for several years. He was last employed at Keen Mountain Prison as a correctional officer. He was a member of Tarpon Freewill Baptist Church. Growing up he enjoyed tinkering with cars and dirt truck racing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Jimmy Garrett.
Left to mourn are his family, his wife, Loretta Garrett; two sons, Grant (Deidra) Garrett, Clintwood and Travis (Danyale) Garrett, Abingdon; two grandchildren, Mason Garrett and Bailey Garrett; his sister, Marcia (Linus) Stepp, of Mi.; a brother, Benny (Shelly) Garrett of Haysi and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
A memorial service was conducted 6 p.m. Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Haysi Funeral Home with Jerry Vitatoe officiating. Friends called after 5 p.m. prior to the service. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com.
