Dickenson County Department of Social Services would like to take this opportunity to express our thanks and appreciation to each and every Resource/Adoptive Parent.  Thank you for opening your heart and your home to children who enter care.  Thank you for providing care for children during emergency situations, during longer placements needed in foster care and also providing permanency to those children who become adoptable.  Again thank you all very much for being part our  “TEAM”.

Dickenson County Department of Social Services is seeking to recruit Resource/Adoptive Parents.

Qualities to consider when applyintg to become a resource/adoptive parent; Empathy and good listening skills, perseverance when things get tough, flexibility and adaptability, patience and humor, stability and consistency in your personal and family life, ability to guide and discipline children without the use of physical punishment and the ability to be a TEAM player.
