SOPHIA LORENE SUTHERLAND COPELAND

Sophia Lorene Sutherland Copeland, age 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 7, 2021. She was born and raised on Sutherland Ridge in Clinchco and is the daughter of the late Eugene and Georgie Sutherland. She was a graduate of Ervinton High School, where she was also a cheerleader. She was a well known country club manager in her longtime home of Holly, Michigan, but most of all known for being a loving wife and devoted mother of eleven kids.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Copeland, her daughter, Caroline Richert, her son, Dennis Martin; and her granddaughter, Dana Lynn.
She is survived by six sons, Phil (Marlene) Copeland, John (Terri) Copeland, and Gregory Copeland of Mi., Steven (Carol) Martin of Id., Daniel Copeland of Fl. and William (Sylvia) Copeland of Va; three daughters, Marcia (Jerry) King of Mi., Edith (Jim) McConell, and Patricia (Sherm) Kutchin of Fl.; thirteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

She will be placed to rest at Pressley Place Cemetery on Sutherland Ridge. A celebration of life for her and her late husband will take place on May 29, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Pressley Place, Sutherland Ridge, Stratton. Online condolences may be made at www.mullinsfuneralhome.net.
