Virginia Big Tree Program

Did you know that the State of Virginia is 63% forest? The Virginia Big Tree Program began in 1970 as a statewide 4-H project to get kids interested in trees and the outdoors.
For the past 50 years, 101 trees from all over the commonwealth have been identified as Virginia Champion and even National Champion Trees. The 4-H Big Tree Contest allows 4-Hers to nominate big trees they discover in Dickenson County. They are required to fill out a one-page form for each tree they nominate. Contact the Extension Office to receive the form (926-4605). Deadline for completion is September 30, 2021.
