The 4-H Camp Leadership Team has been working under guidance from the American Camping Association, Centers for Disease Control, and the Virginia Department of Health.

Dickenson County will be camping with Carroll and Russell Counties during the week of June 28 to July 2.

Who can attend?

Youth ages 9 to 13 years of age (age as of January 1, 2021)

The camp fee is $215 - This fee covers room and board, activities and classes for the week, and a camp t-shirt. Payment plans, financial assistance, and scholarships are available upon request. A $50 non-refundable deposit is required upon registration. Cash or check are the only payment methods being accepted this year.

Registration opened on April 6 and will close on May 31. As always, camp registration is first come first serve, but we will keep a waitlist should space become available. Please keep in mind that with the COVID-19 restrictions that are in place, the Southwest Virginia 4-H Educational Center has reduced the number of campers that will be allowed to attend this year. We will take as many kids as possible, but we anticipate a waitlist for this year. At this time, we believe that we will be able to take between 10-15 female campers and 10-15 male campers. Be sure to sign up early!

Please remember that if 4-H Camp is canceled by the Southwest Virginia 4-H Educational Center, Virginia Cooperative Extension, or the Governor of Virginia then you will be refunded for the entire payment including the non-refundable payment.

Current COVID-19 Restrictions:

• Per the Virginia Executive Order from the Governor of Virginia, all campers and staff must provide proof of a negative COVID test within seven days prior to the beginning of camp OR provide a 14-day symptom screening for the camper and family members. By utilizing the symptom screening, campers must restrict close contact with those outside the family for the duration of the 14-day period. Once registered, we will provide the screening checklist for campers.

• Youth will be required to wear a mask for the entire week of camp with the exception of when eating, sleeping, showering, and on the firing range for shooting sports. Locations will be designated for mask breaks. These locations will be where campers are allowed to remove masks safely away from other campers and staff.

• Youth will be grouped in clusters for lodging in groups of 7-10. Campers will spend the entire week with this cluster including all camp activities.

• Camp classes will look different this year. All campers will rotate with their lodging cluster every day to experience all programs that are offered at the Southwest Virginia 4-H Educational Center such as Nature, Creative Arts, STEM, Shooting Sports, Athletics, and Aquatics.

We expect more COVID-19 regulations to be forthcoming. We will update registered campers as soon as we are made aware of any changes in regulations. An updated list of FAQs can be found at http://www.swva4hcenter.org/4h-camp-faqs
