Gov. Ralph Northam last week released preliminary guidelines for K-12 and higher education graduation ceremonies this spring.

Outdoor events will be capped at 5,000 people or 30 percent of the venue’s capacity, whichever is less, according to a press release. Indoor events can host up to 500 people or 30 percent of capacity.

Attendees must wear masks and follow other guidelines including physical distancing.

As of March 17, Virginia had administered more than 2.7 million COVID-19 vaccine doses, and 1.8 million Virginians had received at least one dose. More than 1 million Virginians had been fully vaccinated. The statewide positive case rate was 5.4 percent. About 50,000 vaccine shots are being provided each day, and Virginia is on track to make vaccine available to everyone who wants it by the start of May.
