ZELLA YATES MULLINS

Zella Yates Mullins, age 99, of Clintwood, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Ballad Health Hospital in Big Stone Gap, Virginia.
She was born November 24, 1921, to Sylvan and Dacie Stanley Yates of Caney Ridge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Worley Mullins; her brothers, Theo Yates, A.L. Yates, Foster Yates and Holmes Yates; sisters, Agress Yates Salyers, Osa Yates Stanley, and an infant sister; a daughter, Mavis Mullins Underwood; a son-in-law, Cecil Underwood and two daughters-in-law, Wanda Kiser Mullins and Anne Crabtree Mullins.

She is survived by three sons, Ronald (Shirley) Mullins of Caney Ridge, Sylvan Mullins of Abingdon and Virgil “Jack” (Patty) Mullins of Morristown, Tenn.; one daughter, Mary (Don) Biggs of Richmond; one brother, Phillip (Valerie) Lee of Big Stone Gap; eleven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

A graveside service was held on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at the Yates Family Cemetery, Caney Ridge Section, Clintwood at 1 p.m. Jack Mullins and Sylvan Mullins officiated. Burial followed. Sons and grandsons served as pallbearers. Masks were required and current COVID-19 guidelines were followed. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your church or favorite charity.
