Applications accepted for Columbus Phipps Foundation

February 02, 2021

The Columbus Phipps Foundation is taking applications for scholarships from students attending colleges or professional schools for the 2021-2022 academic year. Students who receive scholarships must reapply each year. Eligibility is limited to students who have graduated or will graduate from a Dickenson County High School, or have obtained a GED from Dickenson County. These scholarships will be granted until available funds have been expended.

Also, the Foundations awards a limited number of Merit Scholarships to students graduating each year from Ridgeview High School. These awards are based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities and community service. These awards are valued at one thousand dollars per semester and are renewable for four years. A separate application must be completed.

Applications for scholarships must be postmarked or in the Foundation office by May 15. Students applying after this date may not receive a scholarship.

Also, the Foundation is taking applications from Dickenson County non-profit organizations at this time. These applications must be received by April first in order to be included in the budget year 2021-2022.

Application forms may be requested at the following locations: Guidance Office of Ridgeview High School; Financial Aid Offices of University of Virginia’s College at Wise, Mountain Empire Community College and Southwest Virginia Community College and the Columbus Phipps Foundation office (telephone or fax-276/926-8152 or P.O. Box 1145, Clintwood, Va., 24228).
