Happy New Year from your friends at Southwest Regional Adult Education
This is the time of year to reflect, set goals, and plan for the future. If improving your economic status, finding a better paying job, furthering your education, or simply feeling more confident about yourself is one of your goals for the New Year, there’s good news for you. You can earn your GED® certificate through our program with the opportunity to enroll in either a face-to-face or distance learning class this year. It is a great time to make a commitment to complete this important educational goal!
There are many benefits in earning a high school-level credential. Some of these benefits include getting and keeping a job, earning a promotion, enrolling in college or technical school, and preparing for the future.
Those individuals possessing a GED® certificate are able to accomplish as much in college and technical training as traditional high school graduates. Those with a high school-level credential are qualified for and are more likely to receive job-specific technical skills training. They are also qualified for greater responsibilities and promotions.
Another benefit of attaining a high school-level credential is being a good role model for your children. Many parents want to send the message to their children that education is a valuable asset in today’s society and is essential to being successful in today’s competitive economic community.
Individuals who are 18 years or older, who are employed or able to be employed, can demonstrate academic readiness to prepare for and pass the GED® tests. Southwest Regional Adult Education offers both GED® test preparation classes and IET (Integrated Education & Training) programs throughout the region.
The GED® test is a computer-based test which includes the following four areas of testing: Mathematical Reasoning, Reasoning Through Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies.
Innovative IET programs join with local partners and employers to deliver an intensive curriculum that integrates GED® test preparation and assessment, National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) preparation, digital technology skills, industry-specific skills, professional soft skills, and 21st century skills.
All classes offered are either tuition-free or tuition-paid (for IET) and are held at convenient times and locations in Buchanan, Dickenson, Russell, and Tazewell Counties. If classes are unable to meet face-to-face due to COVID-19 circumstances, distance learning is an option. Get on the right track this year by setting an educational goal and working toward achieving that goal.
