RICKY LEE COX

December 08, 2020

Ricky Lee Cox age 61, of Abingdon, passed away unexpectedly on December 2, 2020. Formerly from Clintwood, Ricky was a resident at the Bradley House in Abingdon. He was a special person who loved everyone and was loved by everyone. Ricky grew up in Clintwood and once was a manager of the CHS football team. He was a devout “Greenwave” and Washington “Redskins” fan and his Christmas gift wish always included six pair of “Redskins” socks.

The Bradley House Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas party, his birthday and talking with his cousin, Fran, every Monday night, promptly at 5pm, were the highlights of his life. Rarely did you get through one event until he was planning the next event.

Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, O. D. and Pat Cox; his aunts, Mary Dean Lambert, Gerry Buchanan, Anna White and his uncle, John Fleming.

Ricky was of the Christian faith and was a member of Soul’s Harbor Church in Damascus, Virginia.

Special thanks to the Director and Staff of the Bradley House in Abingdon, where he was always treated with dignity, respect and loving care.

There was a visitation at Clintwood Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until Noon on Saturday, December 5, with a private burial that followed in the Maple Grove Church Cemetery on Caney Ridge. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.clintwoodfuneralhome.com.

Clintwood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
