GAZEL MULLINS OWENS

Gazel Mullins Owens, age 92, of Breaks, passed away November 24, 2020 after a short illness. She was the daughter of the late George and Clemma Mullins. She was born and lived all her life at Breaks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Ellis Ray Owens; a brother, Carvel Mullins who was killed in WWII; a sister, Fern Fields; a half-sister, Glema Auville and step-mother, Gertrude Mullins. She was the last surviving member of the family.
She enjoyed quilting with her neighbors, weed eating and cooking wonderful big meals for her family. She was always up for a rousing game of corn-hole. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Jean O’Quinn (Darrell) of Bee, Katie Wysor (Charles) of Breaks and Rita Edwards (Richard) of Birchleaf; her grandchildren, Brian Ray O’Quinn, Kevin Lee O’Quinn, Charles Douglas Wysor, Tracy Jo Latham. LeRae Collins and Dana Powers, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Due to Covid-19 outbreak there was a graveside service only on Friday, November 27 at the A.J. Edwards Cemetery, at Birchleaf at 1 p.m. with Pastor Shea Shrader officiating. Online condolences may be sent to www.haysifuneral.com.
