Virus relief grants offered
With funding support through the county Board of Supervisors, the Industrial Development Authority is offering grants to help small businesses harmed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The application deadline is Dec. 2. Funds will be distributed Dec. 18.
A business may be eligible to receive up to $5,000. Depending on the number of applicants, additional funds may be available per applicant, according to county economic development Director Mitzi Sykes.
Requests by applicants who received funds from the authority’s local COVID-19 Stimulus Loan Program and/or the federal Paycheck Protection Program will be given lower priority than requests by applicants who have not received other funding.
Applicants who received $2,500 under the IDA loan program will be eligible to receive up to $2,500 from the new grant program.
Eligible businesses must be for-profit, have their principal office located in Dickenson County, have up to 25 full-time-equivalent employees as of March 13 and meet other requirements.
Submit applications online at www.dickensonva.org.
County supervisors allocated some of the county’s federal CARES Act dollars to establish the grant program.
