LARRY A OWENS

Larry A. Owens, 75, died at his home November 11, 2020 after an extended illness. He was born March 10, 1945, in Haysi. He lived most of his adult life in Palatka, FL. He was the son of the late Leon and Dorothy Nowlin Owens.
After Larry graduated Haysi High School in Dickenson County he joined the National Guard. He served full-time in the Guard during the Vietnam era. When he moved to Palatka after his service in 1965, he began his career at Georgia Pacific. He retired from Georgia Pacific after 40 years of as a Bleach Plant Operator and local union member in June 2005. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his children. He was a member of Peniel Baptist Church where he attended regularly until his health declined. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Marty Ray Owens.
Surviving is the love of his life, Eileen Ammons Owens; daughters, Stephanie and her husband Michael Osier of Orlando, Fl. and Angela and her husband Wayne Addison of Marbury, Al.; sons, Dr Stephen Nalley of St Johns, Fl, and Justin and his wife Lynda Owens of Jacksonville, Fl.; six grandchildren, Tyler, Hunter, Breanna, Bailey, Anna and Thomas; one brother, Clint and his wife Tammy Owens of Haysi, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A service of remembrance was held 3 p.m. Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Peniel Baptist Church with Senior Pastor Benny Ray Reynolds officiating. Burial followed in Palatka Memorial Gardens. The family requested that you wear a mask and/or practiced social distancing.
