October 14, 2020

Dickenson County K-12 schools will get nearly $343,900 in additional funds to help them cope with the COVID-19 virus emergency, according to an Oct. 8 release from Gov. Ralph Northam.

Northam announced a new allocation of more than $220 million in federal Coronavirus Aid, Recovery and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding for public schools.

The money will support COVID-19 preparations and response, including testing supplies, personal protective equipment, sanitization and distance learning technology.

The funds will supplement $66.8 million provided through the federal Governor’s Emergency Education Relief Fund and $587.5 million of CARES Act dollars allocated to Virginia for education institutions in May.
