Oakley Stanley  worked as a deputy sheriff under Truman Fleming.  When Fleming resigned as sheriff, Stanley was appointed by the court to serve the remainder of Fleming’s term.  Then, in 1959 Oakley Stanley ran as a candidate for sheriff of Dickenson County.  The photo of Stanley was found in the October 2, 1959, issue of The Dickensonian newspaper.
