BESSIE ELLEN LEFTWICH

Bessie Ellen Leftwich age 96, of Nora, passed away at her residence on Saturday, September 12, 2020. Mrs. Leftwich was born November 3, 1923 in Carrie, Va., the daughter of Flora Kiser. She was of the Christian faith for over 70 years and a member of Ramey Flats Church. Mrs. Leftwich was a loving mother and grandmother and she loved to quilt. She was known as Granny to all.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Flora Kiser; husband, Clinton Leftwich; four children, Elmer Leftwich, Lewis Leftwich, Timothy Leftwich and Jean Hensley; her brothers, Shaylor Kiser, Slemp Kiser and Tony Kiser; sisters, Novia Shook and Alpha Elizabeth Phillips and three grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Ellis Leftwich and Joann of Nora, Earl Leftwich and Tina of Nora; two daughters, Emma Austin of Dante and Wilma Kiser of Nora; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Family received friends, Monday, September 14, 2020 at 6 p.m., in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel, with a service that followed at 7 p.m. Funeral services were Tuesday, September 15 at 11 a.m., at the funeral home, with Darrell Milgrim and James Moore officiating. Burial followed at the Kiser-Leftwich Cemetery, Counts Ridge, Dante. Pallbearers were grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers were Herman Bailey, Bill Bailey, Bill Knoskie, Randall Smith, Jeff Yates, Gary Willis, Sammy Austin, Gleason Austin, Jack Taylor, Tam Hill, Foy Neece, Ray Neece and Butch Lambert.
