Adult education classes provide second chance

by By Karen Gent Adult Education Connection

Even though 2020 has been an unprecedented and challenging year, it’s again time for students of all ages to resume their studies. Whether that means going to a classroom in a school building or engaging in online learning, teachers and students must make all the necessary preparations.

If you are an adult who didn’t finish high school, Southwest Regional Adult Education is prepared to help you engage in the learning process. Adult education classes, whether face-to-face or online, provide an opportunity for a second chance to earn a high school-level credential called the GED® certificate.
Do you know that as we experience life, we are learning all the time? You may have learned more than you think. Why not test your skills by trying a GED® Ready practice test? Many people find that they are ready or nearly ready to take the four GED® subject tests- Reasoning Through Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Science, and Social Studies.

I teach a GED® test preparation class, and I can tell you from experience that many adults underestimate their skills. Many are surprised to find out how much they have learned over the years. The GED® test preparation classes offered through Southwest Regional Adult Education have open enrollment, which means that you may enter the class at any time of the year and exit the class as soon as you earn your GED® credential. You are not required to sit through classes you don’t need nor be taught things that you already know. The instruction is targeted and individualized. You will be taught the skills you need to know in order to pass the tests.

Why not give it a try? Classes are tuition-free, and GED® testing is free when you pass a GED® Ready practice test. You can even take a GED® Ready practice test from your home!

The GED® credential opens doors of opportunity in many different areas of life. If you’ve always wanted to go to college, you can! If you’d like to have a job, you can! If you’d like to make more money, you can! If you’d like to set a good example for your children, you can!

You’ve probably read story after story of the success of others who have embarked on this journey. It’s time for your story to be told, too. You can experience that same kind of success; don’t put it off any longer. As is often said, “The sky is the limit,” so don’t limit yourself.

To register for either a face-to-face or distance learning (online) class, contact Southwest Regional Adult Education at 866-581-9935. The fall term has begun, so enroll today! There aren’t too many things in life today that are free, but this wonderful opportunity really is. All it costs is your determination and effort.
