LAWRENCE EDWARD SMITH

Lawrence Edward Smith age 88, passed away Fri. Aug. 14, 2020 at the Holston Valley Medical Center Kingsport, Tenn. He was son of the late Rufus M. and Martha Dutton Smith. He was a lifelong resident of Clintwood, retired coal miner, served his savior with music for many years with the Lords Servants, a member of the Flemingtown Freewill Baptist Church for over 50 Years.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sons, Larry Smith and Jeff Smith; daughters, Peggy Smith and Kathline Smith Rose; brothers, Jackie Smith, James E. Smith, Rufus C. Smith and Billy Mack Smith; sisters, Reta Mullins and Anna Lee Sutherland and grandson, Derrick M. Smith.
Survivors include his wife Elsie Smith; daughters, Sandra K. Smith and Crystal Dawn Smith all of Clintwood; three grandchildren, Jordan Pharr, Starlett Smith and Danielle Branham; two great-grandchildren; former daughter in-law, Lisa Obert. Along with nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
A graveside service was conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2020 at the Dutton Family Cemetery, Wildcat Ridge Community with David Kilgore officiating. Pallbearers were family and friends. Services were conducted under current Covid-19 guidelines from the state of Virginia. Online condolences may be sent to clintwoodfuneralhome.com.
