CARSON EUGENE STANLEY

September 01, 2020

December 7, 1928- August 28, 2020

Carson Eugene Stanley, age 91, passed away Saturday, August 28 at his home in Morresburg Tenn. surrounded by his friends, and family. He was the son of the late Garland Stanley, and Bertha Stanley. He was a caring father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He is proceeded in death by his father, Garland Stanley; mother, Bertha Stanley; brother, Geoffery Stanley; sister, Della Ramey and son, Lester Stanley.

He is survived by his caregiver, and loving wife Reba Stanley; his sisters, Jequite Faulk, and Theda Pittman of Al.; his five children, Edgar Stanley of Mooresburg Tenn., Dale Stanley, Garvis Stanley, Patricia Stanley Layne, and Warren Stanley all of Clintwood; his four stepchildren, John, and Tammy Robinson of Nicklesville, Steven, and Heather Robinson of Bristol, Jason, and Melanie Robinson, as well as Jeanette, and Charlie Bower all from Coeburn. Also surviving are his twenty grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Carson was a faithful member of the God’s Meeting House church for seven years with Pastor, Gary Baker. He was a religious man who loved the Lord. He enjoyed going to church and reading the word of God.

Carson worked for the Clinchfield Coal Company as a roof bolt operator in Open Fork and Maple House mines for twenty-eight years. Anyone who knew Carson knew he was the definition of a hardworking man.

Other than being a hard-worker, he had a passion for fishing, camping, and appreciating nature. After retiring Carson, and his wife Reba moved to Mooresburg, Tenn. to enjoy the Cherokee Lake, and all that it had to offer. Although Carson caught many fish in his life, if asked his best catch would always be his wife Reba. She was the love of his life.

In the last few years Carson’s health was not at its prime. As many know he suffered from “Black Lung,” from his many years spent mining coal. Although Carson was not able to physically do very much in his last few years here on earth, he made a point to stay connected with all of his kids, grandkids, and friends through phone calls, and visits to his home. He always had a great big hug, and smile to greet anyone stopping by, and everyone who knew him knew he possibly had the biggest bear hugs to be given.

The family would like to thank everyone for the countless phone calls, text messages, flowers, meals, visits, and thoughts and prayers. A special thanks to friends: Gary and Linda Baker, Jo and Paul Robinson, Randy Brandy, and Melissa Jessie. The outpouring support, and love has been comforting during this very difficult time, and has been a reminder to us of all the lives Carson had touched while being here on earth.

Carson’s children, and grandchildren would like to recognize, and bring attention to Reba his caregiver, and wife for taking such great care of Papaw Carson for all of these years. Reba you were not only his biggest blessing, but ours as well. We will never be able to thank you enough for everything. We love you.

The Services will be held at Clintwood-Colley Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The honorary Frank Hall will preach and help us remember Carson’s life.
