ANNA DARLENE SMITH

Anna Darlene Smith age 62, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Smith was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County and a graduate of Ervinton High School. She was a member of the Old Maple Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith worked many years as a CAN. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her father Arthur Mays and brother Carl Mays.
Survivors include her mother, Hazel Yates Mays of Clintwood; husband, Joe Smith of McClure; son, Jason Smith of McClure; daughter Rebecca Hillman and Aaron of Nicklesville; daughter-in-law Brittany Smith of Coeburn; three sisters, Peggy Stanley and Scottie of Clintwood, Tonya Mays of Clintwood and Lisa Robinette and Shannon of Wise; grandchildren, Layla Hillman, Summer Smith, Walker Hillman and Easton Smith.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, August 7, 7 p.m. at the Maple Grove Baptist Church with Les Ritchie and Jeremy Mullins officiating. Visitation began at 5 p.m. Family and friends were requested to meet at the church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, to proceed to Hills of Home Cemetery, Sandy Ridge for graveside services at 11:30 a.m. Pallbearers were Jason Smith, Aaron Hillman, Walker Hillman, Easton Smith, Kim Smith, Terry Smith, Steven Smith, George Smith, Shane Smith, Richard Smith, Randy Richardson and Russ Fleming. Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Hillman, Austin Grubb, Easton Castle, sisters and nephews. These services were held under the current COVID 19 guidelines.
