Virus relief fund to get grant

United Way of Southwest Virginia is getting $100,000 to boost its regional COVID-19 virus emergency relief fund.

Ninth District U.S. Rep. Morgan Griffith announced the Appalachian Regional Commission grant last week. According to ARC, the project will assist 16 communities, 25 organizations and 1,000 individuals.

According to United Way, the relief fund is being used to assist “vulnerable populations,” including children, families and people with limited income, assets and employment.
