RONALD JACK BAKER

Ronald Jack Baker, age 79, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2020 at his residence. He was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County and of the Freewill Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Baker was a retired coal miner from Clinchfield Coal Company where he worked at McClure One.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Glenda Fleming Baker; his son, Greg Baker; his parents, Walter and Violet Ward Baker; two sisters, Joyce Hayes and Patricia Newberry; his sister in-law, Joddy Baker; his niece, Tina Wagner and his nephew, Mike Baker.

Survivors include daughter, Rhonda (Darrol) Poston of Haysi; three brothers, Doug (Nancy) Baker of Abingdon, Eugene (Mavis) Baker of Clintwood and Larry (Patsy Baker of Clintwood; one sister, Sheila (Ron) Phipps of Clintwood; granddaughters, Whitley Poston, Caroline Poston and Jillian (Josh) Evans; great-grandchildren, Alivia and Anistyn Evans and August Poston; daughter in-law, Anita Baker; step-grandson, Shane (Vanessa) Deel; step-great-grandsons, Mason and Christopher Deel; step-great-granddaughter, MaKayla Marinez; a host of nieces and nephews and his four-legged companion, Murphy.

A graveside service was conducted on June 12, 2020 at the Baker Family Cemetery in Clintwood officiated by his brother, Eugene Baker, where he was laid to rest beside of beloved wife Glenda and son Greg. Nephews and friends served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Buck Duty, Carroll Ray Baker, Randy Beverly, Harold Lee Stanley, Junior Hill, G.D. Hill and Ronnie Brown.

A special thank you to the Clintwood United Methodist Church Ladies who prepared a delicious meal for the family after the funeral service. Thanks to all who attended the graveside service, sent condolences, cards and other acts of kindness.
