JANICE MAE DEEL

Janice Mae Deel age 78, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2020, Norton Community Hospital, Norton. Mrs. Deel was born in Baltimore, Md. and moved to Dickenson County in 1969. She was of the Christian faith and was a loving mother and grandmother. Mrs. Deel loved gardening and cooking for her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Deel; parents, Elbert and Mary Hawley; her sister, Shirley Merryman and her brother, Roger Hawley.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Deel and Patti of Virginia Beach and John Deel of Bluff City, Tenn.; two daughters, Mary and Chris Delacruz of Clintwood and Bonnie and Mark Way of Mt. Carmel, Tenn.; one brother, Ronnie Hawley and Bonnie of Baltimore, Md.; grandchildren, Jaimie Deel, Megan Deel, Lindsey Deel, Jason Arrington and Adam Arrington; step-grandchildren, Adam Hughey, Michael Pennington and Bryan Pennington and great-granddaughter, Laurell Arrington.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 8 at 7 p.m. in the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Elder David O’Quinn officiating. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Family and friends are requested to meet Thursday, July 9 at 2 p.m. at the Deel Family Cemetery, Davis Ridge Road, Clintwood, for a graveside service.
