Mullins family data time capsule event canceled

June 30, 2020

Because of the uncertainty surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic, the health and safety of our volunteers, members, and the public is our first priority. Therefore, Dickenson County Historical Society (DCHS) will not be hosting its annual 4th of July event this year. The opening of the “Mullins Family Data” time capsule has also been canceled. However, that event, in some form, will be rescheduled for a later date.

In preparation for the time capsule opening, DCHS is asking all descendants of “Revolutionary” John Mullins to submit their family genealogy to be archived at the Historical Society. If we have enough participation that information will be included in the time capsule so that it will be available to future generations of the “Revolutionary” John Mullins descendants. We encourage all descendants to submit their direct lineage to the Mullins family as soon as possible.

Start with yourself as #1. #2 would be your parents, etc. If you have children or grandchildren, you may submit a separate sheet for them starting with their names as #1. Please include any birth or death dates that you may have; although for any living person birth dates are optional. If you have more than one direct line to “Revolutionary” John Mullins, more than one submission per person will be accepted as long they are different lines. A computer generated pedigree chart may be  submitted. However, only the information directly related to “Revolutionary” John Mullins will be placed in the Mullins Data time capsule.

Please be sure to include the name of the person submitting the information along with address, telephone number, and email address. By submitting the information, permission is given to DCHS to use for the above stated project, and for DCHS to archive the information at DCHS, and for DCHS is use the information in other genealogical projects in the future.

Please send all information to: Dickenson County Historical Society (DCHS) at: dchs1880@gmail.com or mail the info to DCHS, P. O. Box 52, Clintwood, Va., 24228. For more information please call the Historical Society at 276/926-6355. If no answer, please leave a message and one of our volunteers will return your call.
