The Haysi Kiwanis Club and Clintwood Kiwanis Club are proud to announce the presentation of their joint 2020 Key Club Scholarships to two exceptional graduates of Ridgeview High School, Amelia Strouth and Kloe DelRae Rife. In addition to requirements specific to their grade point average, class attendance, faculty reference and community service hours, each candidate for consideration must have been an active member of the Ridgeview Key Club.

Amelia Strouth is graduating as the Valedictorian of the Class of 2020. She is the daughter of Becky and Phillip Strouth. In addition to graduating summa cum laude from Ridgeview High School, Amelia has already graduated summa cum laude from Mountain Empire Community College (MECC) with an Associate of Arts and Sciences Degree in General Studies along with a Certificate in General Education.  At Ridgeview, in addition to the Key Club, Amelia was a member of Future Business Leaders of America, Future Farmers of America, Beta Club, National Honor Society, and the Girls Varsity Soccer Team.  In addition to her high school activities, Amelia participates in MECC’s Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society and Phi Beta Lambda Chapter, and she is a member of the All-Virginia Academic Team and Upward Bound at UVA-Wise.  Away from her academics, she has been working as a legal assistant at Keuling-Stout, P.C. in Big Stone Gap, Virginia since her junior year.  Amelia plans to major in government at UVA-Wise, and then she would like to attend the Appalachian School of Law to obtain her juris doctorate degree.  Amelia would like to thank her family, the Ramey family, and everyone else who has helped her achieve her goals.

Kloe DelRae Rife is the daughter of Ricky and Lisa Rife and is graduating Summa Cum Laude and Co-Salutatorian of the Ridgeview High School Senior Class of 2020. Besides her activities with Key Club she was active in Beta Club, FFA, 4-H, and National Honor Society throughout school, serving in many officer positions, including President of Key Club, Beta Club, FFA, and National Honor Society. She was also the 2019-2020 Virginia State Beta Vice President. Kloe will be attending Virginia Tech in the fall as an Environmental Resources Management major.
