GAYNELL MULLINS SUTHERLAND

Gaynell Mullins Sutherland, of Haysi, left this world for her heavenly home on June 1, 2020 at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Ky. Born December 14, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Velva Davis Mullins. She was a member of the Haysi Church of Christ where she loved singing in the choir. Gaynell was preceded in death by her husband, Tivis Colley Sutherland Jr.; a son, Tivis Colley Sutherland III (Chip); brothers, Victor, George and Andrew Mullins; sisters, Guy Eula Tarwater, Geraldine Mullins, Joann Owens, Jackie Hendrick and Pauline Clodfelter.

Gaynell is survived by daughters, Patricia Joan O’Quinn and Tamara Jane Sutherland of Haysi; three grandchildren, Tivis Colley Sutherland IV (Buck) and wife Tracy Margaret of Columbia, SC., Cynthia Leigh O’Quinn of Pikeville, Ky. and Candace Jade O’Quinn of Lexington, Ky.; four great-grandchildren, Tivis Colley Sutherland V, Joshua Price Sutherland, Angus Jacob Sutherland and Meghan Elizabeth Sutherland, all of Columbia, SC.

Graveside services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Davis Cemetery, Davis Ridge with Mickey Tiller officiating.
