Attention Dickenson County Senior Citizen residents: If you are 60 or older and are in need of food the Appalachian Agency for Senior Citizens will be at Food City in Clintwood on Wednesday, May 27, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to distribute free boxes of food that include milk, eggs and bread. Dickenson County Historical Society: Will be closed until further notice. If you need assistance during this time please feel free to call Edith Faye Redden at 276/926-4117. The Historical Society’s annual 4th of July Military Tribute and Book Fair has been canceled for 2020. However, photos of any person who has served or who is serving in the United States military and who has ties to Dickenson County are still being accepted. Photos will be added to our archives and will be archived and displayed in 2021. Please contact the Historical Society for further instructions to submit a photo.

The opening of the Mullins Family Time Capsule, which was scheduled for July 4, 2020, has also been canceled and will be rescheduled for a later date. In preparation for this event, Dickenson County Historical Society is asking all descendants of “Revolutionary” John Mullins to submit their family genealogy to be archived at the Historical Society. Please submit your family’s direct linage back to “Revolutionary” John Mullins as soon as possible by sending it to dchs1880@gmail.com. It is hoped that this information can be placed in the time capsule for future generations.
