A walk in the woods

This is a common salamander found in the woods at this time of the year. The salamander goes through different stages in its life, and this is the ‘elf’ stage. Take a very close look at the spots and note the darker orange spots are surrounded by a thin black ring. This black border is often found in nature and has been used in art and design since human cave art.

Wayne Riner writes: A walk in the woods revealed jewels of nature when I took a fairly long hike recently even though it was raining. We only have to take the time to look and observe what is before us. Nature provides us with the opportunity to enjoy our time during this period of stress with this pandemic. We have a world before us; we just need to take the time to find it.
