County closes offices to public
County government continues to impose special measures to reduce the potential for contact with the COVID-19 virus.
On March 17, the county announced that all offices would be closed to the public. Altered office hours are 9-11:30 a.m. and 12:30-3 p.m.
Anyone who needs services is asked to call the number for a particular county office and staff will assist. If you need assistance knowing who to speak with, call 276/926-1676.
COURT CLERK
On March 17, the circuit court clerk’s office posted a notice urging the public to “limit in-person visits only to matters that cannot be completed in any other way until April 6.”

Also that day, the office noted that the state Supreme Court issued an emergency order suspending all non-essential, non-emergency court proceedings at least until April 6.
Concealed handgun permits will be processed by mail only, with applications available on the county’s website. Please include a photocopy of your driver’s license and either a copy of a prior permit, a copy of handgun safety class certificate, a DD-214 or hunter’s safety class.
The issuance of marriage licenses, passports, estate qualifications and other non-essential services is suspended.
