Successful Jettie Baker Center ‘Foster’ fundraiser
The “Foster” movie event on February 29 was a huge success! The movie was very enlightening to inform the public about what the children go through and the challenges that our social workers encounter. We were overwhelmed by the community’s support for meeting some of these children’s needs to help comfort them during a difficult time. Your love and kindness was greatly appreciated.
The Jettie Baker Center and Dickenson County Chamber of Commerce would like to thank our generous sponsors and donors who contributed to making the fundraiser a success! Our gracious sponsors included George Hunnicutt-Pepsi of Norton, David Scearce-Food City Clintwood, Josh Evans Law Firm, Heather Lyall-Albright Recovery & Construction, Matt Owens- CC Belcher Insurance Haysi, and the Town of Clintwood.
Donations for the emergency comfort care bags for the children were a blessing! Thank you Carl & Janice Rose, Counts Chapel, Hillridge Church, Judy Compton, Rita Surratt, Marzie Fleming, Melissa Barton, James & Jennifer Barry, Angie Rakes and many others from our community.
We would also like to thank Cassie Owens - Foster Family Recruiter, and Nancy Boyd along with Nathan Childress – Kinship Navigator Program Coordinators all with Dickenson County Social Services for setting up a table with handouts and informing attendees about their programs. If you would like more information about the programs, contact the appropriate persons above at 276/926-1661.
A special thank you to Tonya Tiller and Melissa Mullins from Dickenson County Behavioral Health Services for their table with many giveaway items for the attendees. Thank you to the famous popcorn makers and concession workers, Jim Childress, Shawn Wallace and Melonie Baker.
If anyone would still like to make a donation, you can drop it off at the Jettie Baker Center or the Chamber of Commerce. Together we can change young lives!
