Powers watches Cape Canaveral satellite launch from front lawn

by By Brenda Davis, Haysi, Columnist

Good evening to everyone. I sure thought we were going to get a lot of snow last Thursday. Miss Faye Wampler would have loved that.

We drove Terry to Kingsport to have shoulder surgery. It wasn’t looking good in some places. We made it there and back okay though. Terry had his surgery and is recovering pretty well so far.

Our Sunday visit with Mom was good. She was in a pretty good mood. She tells those CNA’s that she owns Haysi. I think most of them goes along with her. Sheila Brown is her baby. I believe they are good for each other. Thanks Sheila.

I received an email from Katy Jo Powers who goes to Florida in the winter. She is very lucky. She said she was happy to view another satellite go up last week. It was a daytime one. This makes the fourth one this winter since she has been there. She said the night ones are quite a show. There was only one of them. All she has to do is go on her front lawn to see them as they come up the ocean front from Cape Canaveral. They are quite a sight. They had a lot of tourist and excitement last week during the Daytona 500. She isn’t able to go anymore but she watches it on T.V. She was happy Ryan Newman was not hurt any worse in his tragic accident. She said she hears the cars at night when it is quiet. Thanks Katy Jo for sharing with us. I hope to see you soon when you return to Haysi.

Happy belated birthday to Charlie Counts. I hope your day was a great one. Wishes for many more. Happy belated birthday to Wendy Davis Deel. Wendy celebrated on March 1. I hope it was a good one.

Get well to my sister Gail. She had some work done on her knee. There are so many people with colds, strep throat, flue and the stomach virus. I hope you all get better fast.

Sending out our sympathy to the family of Danny Stacy. Sorry to hear of his passing. He was a really nice person. Please keep them in your prayers. Our sympathy to the family of Fred O’Quinn. Fred was a good musician and everyone enjoyed his music. Please keep them in your prayers also.

I have to brag on my great-granddaughter Maloree. She is three and caught two large mouth bass. Wow! She is doing good. I just about said big mouth bass and Dave told me they are large mouth! Anyway congratulations girl.

My sympathy to all who have lost a loved one. Get well to the sick. Happy birthday and anniversary to all.

Please remember to send me news at hulaone_1@yahoo.com. Hi and thanks to all the people who read the paper and remember to always smile at someone.
