ROGER WAYNE DEEL

Roger Wayne Deel, age 64, of Clintwood, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Norton Community Hospital, Norton, Virginia.
Mr. Deel was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County and a 1973 graduate of Haysi School.

He was a retired coal miner and a loving husband, father and pap.

Mr. Deel was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Deel, two brothers, Eddie Paul and Gary Deel, and his grandparents.

Survivors include his wife, Fern Deel of Clintwood; mother, Nora Mabel Deel of Lick Creek; son, Jeremy Deel and Tara of Big Stone Gap; daughter, Karleen Deel of Clintwood; three brothers, Stacy Deel and Kim of Jonesboro, TN, Rick Deel of Clintwood and Joe Deel of Lick Creek; grandchildren, Ryley Blair and Kinley Hamilton of Clintwood, Chloe Deel and Levi Deel of Big Stone Gap; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Family received friends in the Clintwood Funeral Home chapel Sunday, Feb. 16t from 6 until 7 p.m. A service followed at 7 p.m. with Elders Earl Dean Yates, Terry Hall and Phillip Hamilton officiating. Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 17 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial followed in the Mullins-Peak Family Cemetery, Happy Valley Drive. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Southwest Virginia Cancer Center, 671 Highway 58 E, Norton, VA 24273.
