BOB YATES

Bob Yates, 84, of Clintwood, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2019, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Yates was a lifelong resident of Clintwood and a member of Clintwood Baptist Church. He worked at Clintwood Lumber for forty years and was co-owner of the Clintwood NAPA Store. Mr. Yates was a former member of the Clintwood Volunteer Fire Department and a founding member of the Seldom Kill Hunt Club. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. Yates was preceded in death by his parents, Lucien and Hazel Yates Fleming; his son, Stephen Yates; 1 brother, Newton Yates and 1 sister, Betty Yates.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-three years, Mildred Yates of Clintwood; 1 son, Michael D. Yates and wife Myra of Clintwood; 2 daughters, Trena Kay Dye and husband Tommy of Abingdon and Halee Yates of Clintwood; 1 brother, Buddy Ray Fleming and wife Marzie of Clintwood; grandson, Jacob Yates and wife Kim of Pineville, Ky.; great-grandchildren, Marcus, Braxton, Audrey and Bennett Yates; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, December 31, 12 Noon at the Clintwood Baptist Church with Pastor Joseph Hutchinson and Dr. Malcolm Hester officiating. Burial followed in the Phipps Memorial Cemetery, Clintwood.
Pallbearers were A.C. Blevins, Dr. William Robinson, John Johnson, Tommy Dye, Randall Johnson and Paul Riddle. Honorary pallbearers were Bob Cussins, Marshall Hughes, Lowell Huff, Eddie Baker, Quentin Brown, Harold Horton, The Mullins Clan (Donnie, Earl, Muncie, Bob, James, Carl and Joe Lee), Sydney Phipps, Joe Brown, Shelly Mullins, Robert Triplett, Teddy Mullins and Lewis Fleming. Visitation began at 11 am.
