CARROL RAY WOODS

Carrol Ray Woods, age 79, of Backbone Ridge, Clinchco, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tenn. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of the late Bland and Pearl Wood Woods. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, retired coal miner, member of UMWA local #7170 and of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Arson and Dollie Baker; brothers, and sisters-in-law, Jennings and Ruth Woods, Howard and Loraine Harrison, Linda Baker, James and Ethel Coleman, Alfred and Jane Baker, Landon Baker, and Merlene Baker.
Survivors include his wife Reba Gay Woods; a daughter, Pennie (Clayton Jr.) Deel of Haysi; a brother, Palmer (Mary Sue) Woods of Haysi; several nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Haysi Funeral Home with Danny Sluss and Darrell Milgrim officiating. Military graveside rites will be held 12, noon on Thursday, December 19 at Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood. Pallbearers will be Keith Woods, Eddie Turner, Clayton Deel, Jr., Todd Edwards, Kent Woods, Alvin Coleman, David Fields, and Timothy Woods. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlotte Edwards, Missy Woods, Rachael Woods, Eddie Baker, Florina Woods, Connie Turner, Michelle Fields, Ervin Baker, Keilah Woods, Celeste Coleman, and Pennie Deel.
