You may qualify for free job training: MECC/Plugged in Pharmacy Technician 10 week evening courses Feb. 4-May 13, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. at the Dickenson Center for Education and Research/Clintwood. Dickenson County Historical Society, Inc. Old-time Christmas: Dec. 7, 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. at 168 Ralph Cummins Avenue (next door the Clintwood Field House) before the Town of Clintwood Christmas parade. We will be serving hot spiced tea and cookies. Bring your children and/or grandchildren to string popcorn and make colorful paper chains (you can make them, too!) While you are there, reminisce with us about Christmases past. You can also do some of your Christmas shopping. We have hand strung jewelry by Pun Yon Phipps and Kathy Mullins Dingus; handmade jewelry bags by Carolyn Cummins; local history and genealogy books, including our Historical Society cookbook! For those looking for a sentimental gift: we have year books from Haysi High School and Longs Fork Elementary School—these year-books are from recent years. Also available are band and cheerleading uniforms from Clintwood High School and basketball jerseys from Haysi High School. Binns Counts Community Center: Clothing Sale dates are Nov. 21-23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Christmas applications are now available for children ages birth to 14. They must be returned no later than 5 p.m. on Nov. 26, 2019. For more information call 276/870-7051.

Haysi Community Library Workshops: Nov. 19 at noon Quilters Social. Bring your current project to work on as we enjoy socializing together and learning from each other. Nov. 26 at 1 p.m. Kitchen Chalk Board. Paint will be provided. You will need to bring acrylic picture frame of your choice and orientation (portrait or landscape). You can find these at Wal Mart, Dollar Store, etc. If you have questions about the workshops you may call 276/865-4851.

Clintwood Christmas parade: Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. Lineup at 5 p.m. on the old road. Anyone wishing to register a float or to participate call 276/926-8383.

Haysi Community Library: Little Pine Learners; Little Pine Storytime for ages 3-5 each Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Little Pine Toddlertime for 2 year olds and their caregiver Monday and Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and Little Pines Mothergoose for those under the age of 2 and their caregiver on Fridays at 11:30 a.m.

Second Printing of Dickenson County Historical Society’s cookbook: “A Taste of the Hills and Hollers of Virginia’s Baby - Dickenson County, Virginia.” has been received and will be available, for a limited time, while supplies last, at a special, discounted, “holiday” price of $55.
