Avanell Blevins age 89, passed away Friday November 15, 2019 at the Norton Community Hospital, Norton. She was born Feb. 28, 1930, the daughter of John C. and Lectie Kiser Rose, Mr. Rose served Dickenson County as Sheriff for several years. She was a loving, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Blevins was a faithful member of the Rachel Chapel Church for 49 years, where she served as deaconess for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Delbert R. Rose, James C. Rose and Jack Rose, 1 sister, Virgie Beauchamp, her husband of 57 years, Voda Blevins, a son, Dale Blevins, son-in-law, Ronald Sutherland, step-mother, Maxie Rose Fletcher and sister-in-law, Lorraine Blevins.

Survivors include 1 daughter, Linda Blevins Sutherland; a granddaughter, Veronica Sutherland; sisters-in- law, Texas Rose and Deloris Powers, along with nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives.

Funeral services for Avanell Blevins were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019 at the Rachel Chapel Church with Joe Glenn Sluss, Gary Stanley and Willie Stanley officiating. Burial followed in the Blevins Family Cemetery, Harm Ridge Road, Coeburn. Pallbearers were Brothers of the Church, Benny Kennedy and Benjamin Kennedy. Honorary pallbearers were Danny Blevins, A.C. Blevins, Robert Blevins, Ronnie and Karen Rose, Lilton Estep along with special friend Bruce Willis. The family received friends Monday evening at the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a song service at 7 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to clintwoodfuneralhome.com
