Kids’ shoebox event about to begin

It’s time to pack your shoeboxes.

National collection week for Operation Christmas Child is Nov. 18-25. Each year, volunteers pack shoeboxes full of toys, hygiene items and school supplies chosen for a boy or a girl in need. Shoebox items can be chosen for kids aged 2-4, 5-9 or 10-14.

The Southwest Virginia team has dropoff locations in Wise, Big Stone Gap, Coeburn, Clintwood, Duffield and Jonesville.

Specific locations, dates and times include:

• Clintwood-Peuther Chapel Church, 842 DC Caney Ridge Rd. Clintwood: Nov. 18-22, 1-4 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 23, 9 a.m.-noon; Sunday, Nov. 24, 1-4 p.m.

• Wise-Zion Family Ministries, 1613 Norton Rd., Wise: Nov. 18-22, 4-7 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 23, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.; Sunday, Nov. 24, noon- 3 p.m.; Monday, Nov. 25, 9 a.m.-noon.

• Coeburn Presbyterian Church, 220 Second St. SW: Nov. 18-22, 4-7 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 23, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; Sunday, Nov. 24, 2-6 p.m.

• Big Stone Gap-Oak Grove Baptist Church, 14 E. 11th St. N: Nov. 18-22, 4-7 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 23, 2-4 p.m.; Sunday, Nov. 24, 2-5 p.m.

• Duffield-Thomas Village Baptist Church, 879 Duff Patt Hwy., Duffield: Nov. 18-24, 3-5 p.m.

• Jonesville-Powell River Baptist Association, 266 Baptist Association Loop, Jonesville: Nov. 18-21, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 22, 9-11 a.m.; Saturday, Nov. 23, 9-11 a.m.; Sunday, Nov. 24, 12:30-5 p.m.
