Arson suspected in Trammel forest fire

Investigators believe a Monday night forest fire above Trammel was deliberately set.

Virginia Department of Forestry Area Technician Rocky Wood said Tuesday the fire burned around 60 acres at the top of Phillips Hollow. It has been contained and mop up and backfire work has begun, Wood said.

Wood said arson is suspected and the fire is under investigation.

No one was hurt and no homes were lost during the fire, he also said.

A burn ban had been in effect but Dickenson County lifted the restriction in October.
