RUTH ALLENE SULLIVAN

Ruth Allene Sullivan, age 86, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2019. She was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County and a member of Valley View Freewill Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Curtis Sullivan, her parents, Ruben Gerald Sykes and Stella Sykes; sisters, Merrell Vanover and Edna Mullins; and granddaughter, Stephanie Wells.

Survivors include four children, Sadra Sullivan of Mission Viejo, Ca., Sharon K. Murphy of Palm Harbor, Fl., Patricia L. Sullivan of Big Stone Gap and David Sullivan of Blountville, Tenn.; two sisters, Lillian Counts and Vivian Kendrotis; three brothers, Glen Sykes, Dallas Sykes, and Leon Sykes; three grandchildren, Megan Mota, J T Wells, and Jessica Sapienza; five great-grandchildren, Tucker Wells, Evan Mota, Angeline Mota, Kellan Mota, and Kara Sapienza.

The family received friends Tuesday, October 29, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Mullins Funeral Home Chapel with a song service that followed at 7 p.m. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Valley View Freewill Baptist Church.  Pastor Lynn Vanover officiated. Burial followed in the Phipps Memorial Cemetery, Main Street, Clintwood.

Pallbearers were Leon Sykes, Michael Murphy, Chase Pendergrass, David Sullivan, J T Wells, Jeff Sykes, Pearly Fleming, Dee Sullivan, Stephen Powers, and Glen Sykes. Honorary Pallbearers were Dallas Sykes and Junior Wells.Online condolences may be made at www.mullinsfuneralhome.net.
