• Age: 68
• Physical Address:  381 Haygar Mountain Loop, Haysi
• Education background: 1969 graduate of Haysi High School. I have had a lot of classes and training as a licensed insurance agent.
• Work background:  Started working at 12 years of age in a local store bagging groceries, pumping gas and stocking shelves.  I worked through high school part-time at the Western Auto Store in Haysi and Newberry’s Supermarket in Haysi as assistant store manager and manager of the meat department.  Worked two years at Cumberland Bank & Trust Co in Haysi as a teller.  In 1972 was employed as a Nationwide Insurance agent, where I retired in 2012. I am presently a school bus driver and have driven in Dickenson County for the past 17 years.
• Other public or appointed positions held: Served on Dickenson County School Board for 10 years; served on Dickenson County IDA Board of Directors for eight years; served as clerk for the Town of Haysi for six years; member of the Haysi Volunteer Fire Department for 12 years; 25-year member and currently vice chairman of Stone Mountain Health Services board of directors; currently serving as a member and chairman of the board of Dickenson County Department of Social Services.
• Other community service: Charter member and current chairman of Dickenson County Fair Association; member of Haysi Kiwanis Club for past 47 years, with 47 years perfect attendance.  Served as Kiwanis Capital District Lt. Governor in 1984-85; member, clerk and Deacon of Sandlick Primitive Baptist Church and Deacon at Fletcher’s Ridge Primitive Baptist Church.  Faith in God is the cornerstone of our life.
