Clintwood High School’s first-ever Renaissance Faire was the idea of history teacher Lorie Fletcher (left). Fletcher enlisted the help of drama teacher Vickie Blevins (center) and English teacher Miranda Newberry. Fletcher came up with the idea for the event after attending a workshop for teaching advanced placement World History in Charleston, W.Va. A veteran history teacher in attendance noted that he tries to take his students to a Civil War battlefield and conduct mock battles. Wondering how she could incorporate some of his ideas, she came up with the idea for a fun way to teach students about the Renaissance. PAULA TATE PHOTO.Click Hereto order photo reprints
