Participants in the Dickenson County Junior Appalachian Musicians (JAM) program stand in front of the Ralph Stanley Museum, Clintwood, which they recently toured. About 50 students in grades four through eight participate in the free after-school program aimed at reviving interest in traditional Appalachian music. Through the grant-funded program, youngsters are learning to play the fiddle, banjo or guitar. Skilled local musicians teach two-hour classes once a week at the Dickenson County Career Center.
