Miss Virginia Kentucky District Fair

Emelea Shaunta Talford, the 18-year-old daughter of William and Norma Talford of Clincho, was crowned winner of the Miss Virginia Kentucky District Fair Scholarship Pageant on June 4. She was awarded a $2,500 scholarship to further her education, as well as other prizes. She was also honored as Miss Photogenic. She will compete for the title of Miss Virginia Association of Fairs in January at the historic Omni Homestead resort in Hot Spring. Emelea is an upcoming freshman at East Tennessee State University, where she is majoring in history. After graduation, she plans to attend the Appalachian School of Law to pursue a career as an attorney.
