A pile of old tires and some plastic lawn chairs collected from a stream behind Trammel Park waits to be hauled away by volunteers during an Oct. 15 Trammel/McClure River cleanup. The event was organized by McClure River Restoration Project. Nine volunteers participated, collecting 63 bags of garbage, 42 tires, and debris from a five-mile stretch of road between Trammel Park and Ervinton Elementary School. McClure River Restoration Project Coordinator Noreen Fleming thanks county litter control officer Lester Turner and his crew for their hard work during the event.
