This picture of the Keel Mountain Lookout Tower, the first fire tower built in Dickenson County, was taken from The Forests of Dickenson County, Virginia, Bulletin No. 17, published in June 1917. The tower was located one mile south of Clintwood. It was built jointly by Clinchfield Coal Corporation and W.M. Ritter Lumber Co. as part of the forest fire protective system.
