Mountain Empire Community College student Jessica Stallard, of Clintwood, accepts a Virginia Sheriff’s Institute $1,000 scholarship from Dickenson County Sheriff Bobby G. Hammons. The scholarship was established to benefit students seeking an education in law enforcement or criminal justice while attending a Virginia college or university. The scholarship may be used for tuition, fees, books, room and board or other educational purposes.
