Leon Phipps was born on June 19, 1946, in Clintwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtiss and Martha Phipps, as well as one brother and one sister.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Polly; his daughters, Tamara (Matthew) and Constance (Bill); and three grandsons, Anthony (Ryan), Daniel (Mani), and Andrew and his three children. He is also survived by a special niece, Monica; two brothers, Roscoe and Cornelious; and four sisters, Phyllis, Sue, Louise, and Princess. Leon also loved his 2 chihuahuas, Pedro and Precious.
Leon leaves behind a legacy of dedicated Christian living following his baptism in 1981. For 45 years, he served several congregations through volunteer ministry, construction projects, and hurricane relief efforts. Outside of his ministry, Leon was an avid outdoorsman and gardener who had a great passion for vintage vehicles.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Heritage Funeral Home from 2 until 4 p.m.
