Clintwood, VA — January 23, 2026 — Dickenson County officials strongly encourage all residents and businesses to sign up for the CodeRED Emergency Alert System.
This free service is the fastest way to receive critical, real-time information directly from county officials during urgent situations, including:

  • Road closures
  • Power outages
  • Other urgent emergencies
CodeRED delivers timely notifications via phone call, text message, and email, helping keep your family safe and informed.
“CodeRED is one of the fastest ways for us to communicate with the public during emergencies,” said Larry Barton, County Administrator. “Signing up ensures residents receive accurate, real-time information directly from county officials.”
Although enrollment is voluntary, it is highly recommended.
