Paramont Contura, LLC of 5703 Crutchfield Drive, Norton, Virginia 24273 is applying to the Virginia Division of Mined Land Reclamation for a Revision of PERMIT No. 1202171, Deep Mine #41, by Application #1011805.
The application will be adding approximately 17.28 acres and three NPDES points. The permit area is situated in Dickenson County, approximately 1.2 miles west of McClure on Caney Creek, off State Route 773. Drainage will pass through sediment control structures and be discharged into Caney Creek and Big Spraddle Branch of the McClure River and the McClure River. The Nora and Caney Ridge, Virginia USGS 7.5-minute quadrangle map was used to describe the location of the permit area. Discharge locations and amended areas to the permit area may be viewed on the Revision Map and Site Plans 1, 2, 3, and 4 which is attached in Section 21.2 of the application. Any person with a valid legal interest which might be adversely affected by this proposal, or an officer or head of any federal, state or local government agency or authority, may within 30 days of December 17, 2025, submit written comments or objections concerning this applications, and may also request, in writing, that the Mined Land Repurposing Program hold an Informal Conference concerning this application.
