Nancy Ellen Boyd, age 88, of Nancy Hollow passed away Monday, August 26, 2024. Born in Dickenson County, she was a daughter of the late Grover and Flora Owens Anderson. She was last employed as a mail carrier and was a member of Sandlick Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Eddie Ray Boyd; siblings, Garnie (Tiny) Anderson, Barnum (Thelma) Anderson, Doris (Lacy) Counts, Agnes (Charles) Phillips, John Henry Anderson, and son in-law, Mike Holdsworth.
Survivors include her husband, Billy Boyd; children, Jackie (Mavis) Boyd, Haysi, Edna Holdsworth, New Kent, Judy (Ronnie) Edwards, Birchleaf, John Boyd, Haysi, and Harold (Christina) Boyd. Dandridge, Tn.; grandchildren, Conda (David) Edwards, Crystal Boyd, Lara (Michael) Kennedy, Jared (Brooke) Bias, Nicholas Mullins, Heather (Victor) Ramos, Teri (Chris) Yates, Traci (Tyler) Arrington, Leann Dotson, Logan (Adria) Boyd, Lindsey Boyd, great-grandchildren, Grace (Charlie), Rebecca (Jacob), Shelby, Zoe, Lilly, Joshua, Noah, Chandler, Isabella, Chase, Brayden, Liam, Kalie, Khyler, Ian, Piper James Hayes, Emmitt, Tristan (Kaitlyn), Wyatt, Phoenix; great-great-grandchildren, Sadie, Lyla and Avery, and one sister, Arbutus, Edwards.
A Funeral service was conducted 11 a.m. Friday, August 30, 2024 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elders Garnell Gilbert, Noah Kim Edwards, and Jim O’quinn officiating. Ronnie Counts held prayer and read the obituary. Burial followed in the Counts-Boyd Cemetery, Lick Creek. Grandsons, grandsons-in-law, nephews and cousins served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Kenny Counts, David Anderson, Doug Garland, Wilbur Blair, Joshua Turner, Steve Edwards and Will Edwards. The family received friends at the funeral home on Thursday, August 29, 2024 after 6 p.m. where an evening service was held at 7 p.m. with Elders, Bill Campbell, William McClanahan and Billy Campbell officiating.
